In the 1940s life was much different than it is today. Take Weddings for example. In those days many familys would hold a huge Church Wedding followed by what was known as a Football Wedding oftern held in some huge hall so as to accomodate the large number of relatives attending because the families were huge in those days.
Why did they call it a Football Wedding? Well because they would have a local sandwich shop like DeFonte’s make all kinds of sandwiches which were wrapped in waxed paper and then when all the guests were in attendance someone would stand by the huge table of sandwiches and when some one wanted one they would shout out “Give me a MeatBall Sandwich ” and the attendant would throw it across the room to him like a football and this would go on for hours untill everyone had enough to eat and drink and danced so many times that they were about to collapse before they called it a night and headed for home after the Bride and Groom had left.
Of course after the Wedding Ceremony at the Church the Bride and Groom would ride thru their old neighborhood so that all the well wishing neighbors could come out and extend a gift of candies or money to the happy couple.
Ways To Have A Wedding Without Stress In Todays World!
No day in your life will ever stand out quite like your first wedding. Every woman wants it to be the day they cherish most and something that their friends will never forget. If you want to throw that dream wedding, you should read through and follow some of the advice that is given in the article below.
Choose a nice theme for your wedding that you like. There can easily be many disagreements between wedding participants about a theme that is a hit with everyone, but remember that this is your day. You should enjoy it as one of the most important events of your life and consider a theme that is meaningful to both, you and your groom or bride.
The most important tip to making your wedding the event that you will remember forever is to personally plan every detail of the day that you want. Do not let other people tell you what it is that you should be doing. You should of course, listen to advice, especially that of a professional wedding planner. However, make the decisions that you want to make. It is your day!
If your home or yard are big enough, consider having your wedding there. This can save you a significant amount over renting a venue. You can make your home beautiful with a few simple additions, such as flower arrangements and basic decorations. You also will not be limited to the time constraints of a rented venue.
Your wedding colors are very important which means taking flower seasons into consideration for your wedding date. The cost of flowers not available in the current season is quite expensive. The additional cost of these flowers can easily force you to cut your flower needs in half to accommodate the inflated cost.
If the bill for alcohol is eating away at your wedding budget, consider just offering a champagne toast. Offering only champagne at toast time keeps you from having to spend a ton on a full bar. It also means that guests are guaranteed not to drive home from your reception drunk. This is a win win situation for all.
Pick bridesmaids that can be buddies for the children in the ceremony. Give them a care package with healthy treats, water, books, paper and crayons. All this can be used as a distraction when traveling between venues, or while waiting for pictures to be taken. Doing this will keep the children occupied, while still having them accessible.
Keep your toasts short and to the point. Long, rambling stories about that time you were in college and went on a long road trip together start out cute but end up in yawns when they take too long. If you have a funny story to share, make sure that it is less than three minutes long.
Following these tips isn’t the only component to a dream wedding, but it will surely put you on the right path and leave you needing only a well-matched bride and groom to pull it together. It is time to stop dreaming about arranging that memorable day and time to start getting your plans into action.
